Cedar of Lebanon

Species: Cedar of Lebanon (Cedrus libani)
Age: 15 years years
Region: Ballinderry, Nenagh, Co Tipperary, Ireland

I planted this cedar of Lebanon tree on my 50 acre woodland in memory of my late wife Mary. She was a great support over our 45 years together and she is a great loss in my life. I am now in my 82nd year and when asked if I have any regrets about my life’s work I always say yes, I have two regrets: That I didn’t know more about trees as a teenager, and that I didn’t plant twice as many. It is my firm belief that if young people could get an interest in nature and wildlife they will never be bored.
