This remarkable Lime Tree has a circumference of about 18 meters and played an important role in the lives of the villagers of Heede for centuries. Under this tree the champion marksman of the municipality is proclaimed every year. In the past, young couples exchanged vows under the linden tree. In recent decades tree renovations were carried out regularly in order to preserve this landmark and thus also to keep the associated traditions of the villagers for next generations.
